Those with great memories or Chinese friends may know this, but otherwise most Americans would be hard pressed to answer – and with good reason! Chinese culture dictates that the first day of Chinese New Year begins whenever the new moon appears between January 21st and February 20th, so it’s a different date every year. This year it falls on January 25 and we are celebrating the year of the rat (which seems kind of appropriate, no?).
